Sunday’s Ride for Their Lives raised awareness of the effects of climate change on children’s health.
Billings TrailNet and Montana Health and Climate team up to sponsor this annual event.
The 20-mile ride took riders from Meadowlark Brewery to the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing-MSU downtown and back.

Currently, there is an escalating push to put one of the most powerful and moneyed industries above the law. After months of lobbying and backroom deals, legislation has been introduced in Congress that aims to shield fossil fuel companies from any laws or lawsuits that would hold them accountable for their role in the climate crisis. Given what has been documented about the fossil fuel industry, this latest effort to shield companies from legal accountability raises serious concerns. No industry should be exempt from the legal standards we apply to everyone else.
Oil companies like ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron and BP knew in the 1970s that their fossil fuel products were actively harming the environment — and they did nothing about it.
Instead, fossil fuel companies spent decades casting doubt on the scientific consensus surrounding climate change despite internal research indicating that continued fossil fuel use would contribute to significant environmental harm.
We see the fallout of those lies every day, from more extreme weather events destroying and displacing communities, to disruptions to our agricultural growing seasons and food systems.
In the medical field, we see how worsening air pollution has been linked to higher rates of neurological diseases and asthma. We see how emergency rooms are overburdened during unprecedented heat waves that are becoming increasingly common. Big Oil companies knew their products would fuel the chaos we’re experiencing, and now they want to ensure they are never held responsible for it.

If passed, the Initiative will require 2/3 of all registered voters in Butte-Silver Bow County to approve any new or expanded data center!!!

Environmental Health in a Box comes to Crow Agency
The kindergartners at Crow Agency are learning about climate with environmental books and activities this month. MHC began sending out “environmental health in a box” kits to Boys and Girls Clubs in Missoula in 2025, with the hope that we would be able to bring the program to more rural areas. We are so excited to be working with our friends at Crow Agency to expand the program and get kids engaged with their environment.
Pediatricians in MHC have always noted how readily kids embrace nature, and how quickly their parents care about climate issues once they realize the impact on their children’s health. We love being able to give kids cool books to read, like We are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom or Magic School Bus and the Electric Field Trip. We also include games, activities, and crafts! The program encourages discussion and action. We want kids to feel empowered and informed, and we’ve been blown away by their enthusiasm for this topic. Big thank-yous to our partners at Crow Agency.
